2014 why not adventure film festival to bring the best of adventure films to castlebar

On Thursday 30th October, the Why Not? Adventure Film Festival will return to the Linenhall Arts Centre for the second consecutive year, showcasing a night of daredevil adventure short films from Ireland and across the globe.

The festival has only one aim: ‘to inspire people with tales of adventure’.

The night will immerse spectators in tales of adventure from everyday heroes, living their lives for mind-blowing extreme sports and incredible expeditions in remote places of the planet.

Be ready to set sail to the Arctic, stand atop rugged mountainous peaks and descend with adventurers deep in the heart of vast canyons. The selection of films will keep you on the edge of your seat and take you further than our little island.

Films, submitted to the festival this summer, were selected to celebrate the spirit of adventure with a showcase of the best of award-winning adventure films and Irish premières. The short films are in competition for a chance to win the Grand Jury Winner and Best amateur film as decided by a panel of adventurers and film-makers: renowned Irish explorer and film producer Pat Falvey, rowing World record holder Mike Jones, award winning director of the Pipe Risteard Ó Domhnaill and famous Outsider Magazine editor Roisin Finlay.

Those in attendance on the night also get to have their say and vote for their favourite film in the ‘Public Choice’ Award and there will be audience fun on the night as well as prizes to win.

Let the adventure begin!
