The man behind the Anna's Anchor project, Marty Ryan.

Creative adventure like no other

THIS summer, Anna’s Anchor, in conjunction with Never Meant Records, will be embarking on an exciting and creative adventure like no other.

Known as 'The Islands', the project will see Anna’s Anchor, the project of Limerick-based singer songwriter Marty Ryan, visit a different island off the coast of Ireland every weekend this month and next, play a gig, write a song and then record and release it each week at www.annasanchor.com.

Anna’s Anchor has previously self-released an EP entitled Oak Street, which was recorded in Montana, USA, in summer 2014. After touring Europe in December, Anna's Anchor released a split single with James Carroll (UK) in April, which saw the pair tour the UK and Ireland.

Now, with focus looming on the islands project, the remote, harsh and beautiful landscape will provide a unique and novel way to produce the most honest and open songs possible. Every Thursday during the project there will be a song released that will have been recorded and engineered by Mike Gavin (Windings).

The next two islands on this tour of self-exploration are the Mayo islands of Inishturk (June 21) and Clare Island (June 26), while Inishbofin (July 18), Co. Galway, is also on the itinerary.

Created in the summer of 2014, Anna’s Anchor is the alternative rock project of Marty Ryan from Limerick. Taking strong influences from bands such as Into It Over It, Brand New and City & Colour, Anna’s Anchor is a clash of heartfelt lyrics laced with delayed guitars and soft acoustic undertones.
