Jim Morrison tribute night with Mayo's Na Doirse

THIS month marks 45 years since the passing of rock legend Jim Morrison, and Jam Shugar will be hosting a tribute night to the former Doors front man in Castlebar with Mayo band Na Doirse.

Na Doirse are best described as an impeccable recreation of one of the most influential bands of the past 50 years. The lead singer reincarnates Morrison’s swagger and charismatic stage persona.

Expect to hear cult classics from one of rock’s most loved repertoires - ‘Riders On The Storm’, ‘Light My Fire’, ‘L.A. Woman’ and ‘Strange Days’, among others - when they play Garbo's tomorrow night (Saturday, July 2).

The group hails from Foxford and Ballina, and the members have been performing for over 16 years, honing the psychedelic rock sound of The Doors. Fans of the original group will not be disappointed.

Supporting them will be Hotrock, a Castlebar-based band covering classic rock acts such as Thin Lizzy, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, SRV, Deep Purple and more.

The hosts, Jam Shugar, will be playing your '60s favourites with the talented Julianne Hennelly on vocals and award-winning songwriter Aidan Bolger on guitar, making this one show not to be missed.

Doors open at 9 p.m. and admission is €6. Pay in before 10 p.m. to be in with a chance to win some groovy prizes (prizes will be raffled off on the night and will not be held in your absence). Follow Jam Shugar on Facebook for more details.
