Sir,

I agree with your Achill contributor in support of the proposed naming of the newly opened bridge in Castlebar as a testimonial to Padraig Flynn's achievements to Mayo and Castlebar in particular.
This was achieved by his straight talking, devoid of cant, hypocrisy or self-interest.

Sir,

Having read John Melvin's report and re-watched the replay of the match, I couldn't agree more with him on the magnificent display by our minor team. They deserve great credit for the way they conducted themselves and the tremendous enjoyment they gave to all their supporters with their attacking brand of football that was full of guts, character and determination. However, the match was still lost.

Sir,

With the near completion of the new magnificent Lannagh bridge linking the Newport-Achill Road with the N5, I believe the vast majority of the population would support it being named after Padraig Flynn.

Sir,

The people of Pakistan are facing a public health catastrophe after the worst floods in living memory.
An area bigger than the size of Ireland has been left underwater with 14.5 million people, including seven million children, affected – more than the combined total of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, 2005 Kashmir earthquake and 2010 Haiti earthquake.
The homes and livelihoods of some of the world's poorest people have been washed away and now deadly waterborne diseases, such as cholera, threaten to compound the suffering.

Sir,

We, the public, have no say any more. We have politicians making up new rules as they go along. We cannot keep going on like this. It is destroying our country.
It is the megalomaniacs in our political classes who have destroyed our country and never gave us the people a chance to decide what path the country should take.

Sir,

Like many people in the north west I have witnessed the appalling behaviour of boy racers on our roads.
It is time the Government introduced the necessary legislation so that the cars of those described as boy racers can be impounded immediately.

Sir,
My name is Patrick Duffy of Cheshire, England. I am writing to you to see if you would be so kind to find some more information, news articles, photos or any other possible contacts regarding an incident involving my grandfather, Laurence Duffy, on Saturday, June 6, 1959, in Kilkelly, Co. Mayo.
