Sponsor Profile: Be well, live well and stay well with Staunton's Pharmacy

For 64 years the Staunton name has been synonymous with the retail landscape in Castlebar.

From the single pharmacy opened by Jack and Ita Staunton back in the 1950s, the family group has expanded to include three pharmacies, a health food store, Staunton’s Costcutter Express, S Price Beauty and the Storehouse Cafe.

Employing over 60 people, Stauntons truly are an integral part of Castlebar life making a huge contribution to the local economy and the local community. In all their shops they offer a very personal service and treat every customer as a valued individual.

The pharmaceutical wing is still at the core of the Staunton group and it is from them that the motto ‘Be Well, Live Well, Stay Well’ comes.

One pharmacy is on Main Street, a second on The Link, Hopkins Road and the third, under the All Care name, on New Antrim Street.

Between them they offer a huge range of cosmetic, perfumes and beauty products as well as a busy dispensary for prescriptions. Staunton’s offer free over the counter advice, with no appointment needed, plus a handy collection and delivery service.

Add in a convenient one hour photo lab and it’s clear that there’s plenty going on at Stauntons! A loyal and always growing customer base proves that Stauntons have their finger on the pulse in more ways than one.

Staunton’s pharmacies carry an excellent choice of top quality international perfume, skincare and cosmetic brands. Several major brands are exclusive to them including Clinique, Estee Lauder and Benefit. Leading French brand l’Occitane en Provence is an exciting new addition to the stable.

The youthful Italian make up brand Flormar is available at the Link Pharmacy and is very popular with young adults and teenagers.

Healthy living is the name of the game at Staunton’s Health Food Shop on Hopkins Road. It’s a treasure trove of whole foods, herbal and homeopathic remedies as well as a wide range of environmentally friendly products including sulphate free shampoos.

Well known and reputable brands include Udo’s Choice, A. Vogel, Quest and Higher Nature. Customers with dietary issues will find plenty on the shelves to suit them, particularly for those with gluten intolerance. Friendly staff are always on hand to advise and help with specific issues or product choices.

Staunton’s Costcutter Express sells confectionary, fruit, vegetables and newspapers. It’s also a Post Point – convenient for customers to pay bills or buy stamps.

The success of the delicatessen section with its instore bakery, inspired Stauntons to set up their newest venture, The Storehouse Cafe. ‘Every Batch Made from Scratch’ is the catchy slogan and that applies to much more than just bread.

All the salads are made in house and the delicious honey roasted ham, stuffed chickens and much more are all prepared fresh every day. Just delicious!
