Chef Danny Coleman, winner of the competition to design a signature dessert for Westport, has dished up the answer.
His creation, A Trilogy of Westport, was announced as winner of the Westport dessert competition in the final held in the Wyatt Hotel.
The competition was organised by Westport Tourism Organisation (WTO), and called on people with a passion for food to create a culinary delight to be branded 'The Westport Dessert'.
The event was open to anyone with a passion for food and it attracted an array of professional chefs as also lay participants, including some primary school children.
Passion is a word often overused with cooking, however passion it was on display on the night of the final.
Winner Danny, a chef at the Delphi Mountain Resort and Spa, said his dessert encompassed 'simplicity at its best - Croagh Patrick, Westport House and the Octagon in Westport'.
WTO is dedicated to the continuous development of Westport as a quality visitor destination and to further promote it as a base for the visitor to explore the western region.
The market trend is emerging towards culinary destinations and without a shadow of a doubt the assets of Westport and the Mayo capture area have the making of a true culinary hub.
WTO is proud to begin its marketing of Westport as a culinary destination with the Westport dessert competition.
Westport Tourism distributes in the region of 30,000 marketing literature on Westport and all future distributions will include the Westport dessert.
