Man removed from church

A man who interrupted 8 a.m. Mass at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, last week was removed from by two concerned members of the congregation.

The parish priest, Fr. John Cosgrove, was on the altar at the time of the interruption.

It is understood the individual involved was vocal at the back of the church while Mass was being said and then approached the altar, where he was spoken to by the P.P.

When the ‘intruder’ refused to leave and tried to address the congregation thorough a microphone, two male Mass attendees removed him from the church.

Fr. Cosgrove was anxious to play down the incident when spoken to by The Connaught Telegraph.
