Man dies following workplace accident in ballaghaderreen
GARDAÍ and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have begun investigations into the death today of a 61-year-old man following an industrial accident in Ballaghaderreen.
The victim was Gerard (Gerry) Griffin (61), a crane driver, from Crenane, Ballaghaderreen, who worked at the Thompson Butler Steel plant in Cloverhill, Ballaghaderreen.
Mr. Griffin, a single man, sustained severe leg injuries when a consignment of steel fell on him around 10 a.m.
He was transferred by helicopter to hospital in Galway but died later.
