Claremorris rife with rumours about 29m lotto winner

Speculation abounds in Claremorris today as to the identity of the person who scooped €2.9 million in Saturday night’s National Lottery draw, but no conclusive evidence has emerged as to who the lucky punter is.

The winning €3 quickpick ticket was purchased in Tesco on Saturday evening. The numbers drawn were 7, 8, 18, 28, 35, 39, and the bonus number was 37.

So far nobody had come forward at the Dublin headquarters of the National Lottery to collect the big windfall.

Staff at the Tesco store, which is located at Silverbridge on the Knock Road, claim they are as in the dark as anybody else about the winner.

“The winner could be anybody, not necessarily somebody from the Claremorris area”, one local resident said. He explained the store, which is located close to the N17, attracts customers from a wide area. “Perhaps somebody from Sligo or Galway who was passing through stopped off and bought the lucky ticket.”
