294 mayo jobs created by ida supported companies in 2014

Mayo has had another positive year, with 294 jobs created by IDA supported companies in 2014.

The number of people at work is up 464 in the period 2011 to 2014, which is a 13% increase on 2010 numbers.

“The growth in IDA jobs in Mayo is good for the region and something the government will seek to build on,” commented Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

“In 2014, 294 jobs were created in IDA supported companies in Mayo. This builds on the 490 jobs already created in IDA supported companies since Fine Gael came to government in 2011. All of these 784 jobs represent solid employment and money being pumped back into local economies.

“The IDA has been working hard in Mayo with new and existing companies and it is important to recognise the growth in our existing industries, which sometimes goes unnoticed.

“In this instance 70% of the 294 jobs are in existing companies. This shows a commitment to the area.'
