Pair further remanded over mayo house breakin charges

Two men with Co. Wicklow addresses have appeared before a special court charged with a spate of house burglaries in Ballinrobe.

The alleged offences occurred at Castlebar Road, Ballinrobe, on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 24, when five houses were broken into.

Later that evening, two men, Miley Connors (30) and Michael Connors (31), both with an address at Meadowvale, Arklow, Co. Wicklow, were arrested and later charged.

The accused, who are cousins, appeared before Judge Mary Devins at a special District Court sitting on Thursday last.

Bail was refused by Judge Devins after she heard evidence from gardai.

The court heard that both men have a number of similar convictions for similar offences and a number of outstanding bench warrants against them.

When charged by gardai both accused replied 'No' to each charge.

Both men appeared before Harristown Court (Castlerea Prison) today (Friday) where they were further remanded.
