Island community evenly divided

AN island community is evenly divided on the issue of same-sex marriage.

Eleven voters on Inishturk, eight miles off the Co. Mayo coast, indicated 'Yes' while the other 11 who exercised their franchise in the referendum said 'No'.

Overall, the Yes vote in the Mayo constituency on marriage equality looks set to be carried, with a 55% to 45% majority, according to latest tallies.
