Man questioned following Mayo gardaí swoop

A MAN has been questioned at Castlebar Garda Station following a swoop on an unauthorised halting site off Breaffy Road in the town yesterday (Wednesday).

Local gardai were joined for the search by armed members of the force’s regional response unit.

A garda spokesman said that what he described as 'items of evidential value' were seized during the search. He would not elaborate further.

The man arrested was held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
