Lidl opens multi-million euro store in Ballina town centre

LIDL Ireland celebrated the opening of its new store in Ballina yesterday (February 25) following five months of construction.

Representing a multi-million euro investment by the retailer, the state-of-the-art building measures nearly 24,000 square feet and stands eight and a half metres high.

This latest opening will employ 23 people from the area, bringing the total number of Lidl stores in Ireland to 145 and the number of employees to over 3,980.

Boasting a brand new architectural design and spacious layout incorporating wider aisles and a larger bakery, as well as improved staff and customer facilities, the state-of-the-art building incorporates new design concepts for Lidl stores in Ireland.

The innovative lean-orientated design also features high spec operational facilities to maximise efficiency and streamline processes which will allow staff to spend more time in a customer-facing role, further improving the customer shopping experience.

The new store will also ensure a greater focus on energy efficiency, with a reduction of around 20 to 30% on standard electricity costs via features like an energy efficient heating system.

Store manager Noreen Hayes said it was exciting for everyone to celebrate this milestone in Mayo.

She added: “This state-of-the-art design will allow us to streamline our processes and enhance our customer shopping experience even further while still offering top quality products at market-leading prices.”
