Mayo Male Voice Choir's annual concert - with a 1916 flavour

TONIGHT'S a big night for lovers of choral music as the Mayo Male Voice Choir take to the stage for their annual concert in Breaffy House Hotel.

With brilliant tenor Seán Costello, from Ballinrobe, as their guest soloist, plus the Garvey brothers - both of whom are members of MMVC and stole the show last year - as well as guest MC for the evening, the inimitable Frank Forde, it promises to be a great, great concert, one that certainly must not to be missed.

It is going to be a great night’s entertainment, with a 1916 flavour to some of the new repertoire.

MMVC members David Loring and Joseph Garvey have taken the beautiful and moving 'Grace' and arranged it especially for the choir. Many new songs will get their first outing with MMVC too, including 'The Jug of Punch' and 'Worried Man Blues', while a favourite of sadly missed founder member Michael Basquille, 'Rest of the World Goes By', had to be included in the programme also.

So if you enjoy choral music, if you enjoy listening to a really top class tenor, and if you enjoy a laugh with a super compere, then get along to Breaffy House Hotel this evening (Thursday, April 28). The concert begins at 8 p.m. Check with choir members or reception at Breaffy House for ticket (priced €15) availability.
