Community mourns passing of Tommy Joe Cuffe

THE death has occurred unexpectedly at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, of Tommy Joe (Tom) Cuffe, Chestnut Grove, Castlebar, and Ballydavock, Belcarra.

Aged 65 years, he very highly regarded within the community. He spent much of his working life in England where he was involved in the licensed trade for many years. The deceased was a son of the late Tom and Peggy Cuffe.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Thomas, (Dooradoyle, Limerick), daughter Naomi (Australia), grandchildren Aoife and Conor, brothers Seamus (Belcarra), Paul (Belcarra) and Ger (New York), sister Mary Prendergast (Belcarra), daughter-in-law Irene, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, uncle Fr. Bernard (Loughrea Abbey), aunt Agnes Prendergast (Belcarra) and aunt-in-law Aine Deasy (Errew), cousins, relatives and his many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

He was predeceased by two of his brothers, Padraic and Mick.

His remains will be reposing at Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, this evening (Thursday) from 6 to 8 p.m.

Requiem Mass for the repose of his soul takes place at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Friday at 11 a.m. with cremation to follow in Mount Jerome Crematorium, Dublin, arriving for commital service at 3.30 p.m.
