Met Eireann is predicting the arrival of summer to Mayo next week.

It will become warm and rather humid from Sunday, with some good spells of sunshine, as continental air feeds in over Ireland, from the southeast.

But it will not be completely dry as some heavy showers or longer bursts of thundery rain are expected too.

These will be widespread during Friday night and for a time on Saturday, but more isolated thereafter.

Further rain or showers are expected on Saturday morning, heavy and possibly thundery at times, with a risk of some spot flooding.

But drier and somewhat brighter conditions, with some hazy sunshine, may develop, but not necessarily in the west.

Sunday will be mild with some good spells of hazy sunshine, but some showers breaking out too. Highs of 14 to 20C are predicted.

It will be warm and humid up to midweek, with temperatures in the high teens generally and in the low twenties in some places with best values in midland and western areas.
