The Mall in Castlebar was a busy spot this lunchtime (Friday).

Sun is in the sky for the weekend

SUN'S up across Mayo today and it's set to continue for the weekend.

As people make the most of the warm temperatures, as our photo shows, with big numbers enjoying lunch on the Mall in Castlebar this afternoon, the good news is that it will continue to stay warm with good sunshine this afternoon and evening.

Claremorris is reporting a county high of 21 degrees Celsius this afternoon, with Ireland West Airport Knock recording a temperature of 20 degrees at lunchtime. It's a bit cooler down Newport way at 19 degrees.

Met Éireann say it will be dry again tomorrow, with a mixture of sunshine and cloud, though maybe a little cooler than today.

Sunday will also hold dry, with sunny spells and light, variable breezes. With pleasant sunshine, there will be highs of 15 to 18 or 19 degrees Celsius.

Monday's weather forecast is for a milder day generally with temperatures ranging 16 to 20 degrees - mildest across the south midlands but feeling cooler along north coasts.
