Death of popular Westport hairdresser Ann Joyce

THE death has occurred of Ann Joyce (née Fitzgerald), High Street, Westport, and late of Chapel Street, Newport.

A member of one of the west Mayo town’s most popular families closely associated with Westport United FC, her passing, following an illness bravely borne, is widely mourned in the community.

The deceased was a lovely, genuine woman who dedicated her life to her family and was held in the highest regard by everybody who knew her.

She ran her own hairdressing business, Rave, at High Street for many years and her professionalism and attention to detail were exemplary.

Paying tribute to the deceased, a family friend, Minister of State Michael Ring, described Ann as ‘a lady of the highest order’.

“My heart goes out to her family,” he added.

Deepest sympathy is extended to her husband Séan, sons Kevin, Mark and John, daughter-in-law Erin, granddaughter Fiadh, sister, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Her remains will be reposing at Navin’s Funeral Home, Westport, this evening (Thursday) from 4 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to St. Mary’s Church, Westport.

Requiem Mass for the repose of her soul takes place at 11 a.m. on Friday with burial afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.
