Mayo man's round Ireland paddle board feat

A MAYO sportsman has created history by becoming the first person to circumnavigate Ireland on a stand-up paddle board.

Emmet Heneghan of Breaffy, Castlebar, completed his mammoth 1,270-mile challenge at Old Head in Louisburgh on Saturday (where he is pictured by Frank Dolan with his son Bodhi Williams Heneghan).

It brought to a glorious end his solo expedition, which he undertook in 60 days over the course of the past three years.
