Country home of Mary Robinson goes up for sale

FORMER President Mary Robinson’s stately country home in Co. Mayo is to go on the market.

Massbrook House, near Crossmolina, has been in the possession of Mrs. Robinson and her husband, Nick, since the 1990s.

The property, which stands on 100 acres beside Lough Conn, was originally bought by the Robinsons as a tranquil rural retreat, only 15 miles from her birthplace in Ballina.

But the Robinsons haven’t been staying in the property as much of late, hence the decision to sell.

Over the years, Nick Robinson has been a familiar figure on the local roads around Lahardane, sometimes driving a tractor while he pursues his agricultural interests.

Dublin-based auctioneering firm Sherry Fitzgerald have the sale of the property. The property will be advertised in a national daily newspaper tomorrow (Thursday).

The property has been placed on the market, quoting €2.75m.

Massbrook House was built in the 19th century. It was owned up to the 1970s by a multi-millionaire.
