Three people injured in crash at Ballyvary

THREE people are being treated at Mayo University Hosital in Castlebar for injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collisions on the N5 roadway near the village of Ballyvary.

None of the injuries are life-threatening, according to informed sources.

The accident, involving a Brink's-Mat security van and a car, occurred close to the Foxford junction at Ballyvary. The driver of the van was accompanied by a colleague. 

It is understood the van had come from the Foxford direction before the crash occurred while the driver of the car was heading towards Swinford.

The emergency services were at the accident scene for a number of hours and the movement of traffic was restricted to single lane only.
