20K In One Day for children's charities

A MAYO sports club is holding a novel fundraising day in support of two children's charities.

The initiative, 20K In One Day, is being run by Mayo Gaels Bord na nÓg to raise money for two amazing children's charities, Ronald McDonald House and the Jack & Jill Foundation.

The 24-hour event takes place from 7 p.m. on August 12 to 7 p.m. on August 13 and will involve 20,000 laps of the walking track in Abbey Park, Mayo Abbey.

Said a spokesperson: “We, in our club, have been affected by the deaths of children to illnesses and we know that we are not alone in experiencing these tragic circumstances. As a result, we are looking for your help and support in this event.

“Every lap is a lap that counts, so whether you sponsor someone to do a lap, or you come and do a lap yourself, you are helping these charities.”
