Mayo native appointed deputy leader of Seanad

SENATOR Catherine Noone, a native of Mayo, has been appointed deputy leader of Seanad Éireann by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

Speaking after the appointment, Mr. Kenny said: “Senator Catherine Noone is a skilled and well-respected politician, who will do a great job as deputy leader of the Seanad. Senator Noone is hardworking and committed, and her experience in the Upper House will be of great benefit to her in her new role.”

Senator Noone described her appointment as being 'is a huge honour'.

She said: “I am looking forward to working with all my colleagues in Seanad Éireann to ensure the 25th Seanad is constructive, effective and serves the people in the way it should.”
