Children from Shanghai enjoy GAA experience

THE Connaught Telegraph had a surprise visit this week to our offices from three ladies from Shanghai GAA Club in China.

The three mothers are visting Castlebar as part of a summer sporting educational camp with their children who have been playing Gaelic football over here during their three-week stay in Mayo.

One of the trip organisers is Conor Melvin who resides in Asia, where GAA is expanding rapidly.

The ladies dropped in to The Connaught Telegraph to collect a copy of the paper which featured a photograph of their kids at the Connaught final in Galway. The children got to show off their football skills in Pearse Stadium when they played Galway club Claregalway during the interval.

The children were also in MacHale Park on Saturday evening last to witness Mayo's win over Kildare, and they also met Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
