Minister Zappone receives warm Mayo welcome

MINISTER for Children Katherine Zappone was in Castlebar today to meet a number of groups and view the old post office building in the town which is due to be transformed into a youth centre.

Accompanied by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, she spoke with childcare representatives and visited the Mindspace facility operated by Mayo Mental Health Association at Market Square.

The minister also signed the book of condolences at the Castlebar Tourist Office for the victims of the terrorist attack in Nice.

Minister Zappone also met members of Mayo Equality as well as dropping into the offices of The Connaught Telegraph.

She said she looked forward to viewing Castlebar photographer Alison Laredo's exhibition, 'Ten Days that Changed the World' in Dublin later this week.

The minister then took time to chat with participants of the Hurling on the Green initiative at The Mall.
