New €30m. primary care centre to open soon - HSE

THE HSE has confirmed the new Castlebar Primary Care Centre at Moneen, Castlebar, will soon be operational.

The development of the facility is in accordance with the national model for delivery of primary care centres and is being developed by Abbey Álainn Limited.

The centre was designed by John Halligan’ Architects and follows a public procurement process which invited potential developers to develop a primary care centre in Castlebar in accordance with the National HSE Primary Care model.

It will provide a range services covering the Castlebar town area which includes the following.

Chiropody, community mental health team, dental, family doctors, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, primary care counselling services, psychology, public health nursing, radiology, speech and language therapy, training AND conference facilities and other visiting services.

The majority of these services will be relocating from other locations in Castlebar to this modern integrated centre. The total HSE staff compliment will be in the region of 40 staff.

Three GP Practices will be based based at the centre. This will allow for members of the public in Castlebar and surrounding areas to avail of a wide range of services in this modern purpose built facility.

In addition to the primary care centre already established in Ballina, further centres are underway in Ballinrobe, Claremorris and Westport.
