Patients at the Sacred Heart Home 'not provided with adequate drinking water' - Chambers

MAYO Fianna Fáil TD Lisa Chambers has hit out at the HSE and the Sacred Heart Home Hospital for not providing patients with adequate drinking water following a boil water notice, which was introduced last Friday.

Deputy Chambers revealed that she had been contacted by concerned relatives of elderly patients who informed her that they were being served with cooled pre-boiled water.

Deputy Chambers commented: 'This is extremely frustrating. At this stage in their lives Sacred Heart Home patients deserve to have access to adequate drinking water.

'I can't understand how management and the HSE, if this is the case, would think giving patients cooled boiled water to drink is acceptable and I would strongly urge the HSE to reconsider this decision and begin providing adequate drinking water for patients.'
