Recent deaths in County Mayo

IT is with deep regret we record the deaths of the many people who died in the county over the past week (October 16 to 23). May their gentle souls rest in peace. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved families.

 

Ann McGrath, Ballinrobe

Ann McGrath, Marlima, Convent Road, Ballinrobe.

She was a sister of Martina Cummins, Fionnuala Conoboy (Tourmakeady), Sean and Mary Byrne (Celbridge). She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Michael Conoboy and Peter Byrne, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

Ann was predeceased by her parents, John and Bridie, and her brother-in-law John Cummins.

Burial took place in the New Cemetery, Ballinrobe, following Requiem Mass for the repose of her soul.

 

Josephine Kelly, Ballinrobe

Josephine Kelly (née Philbin), Newcastle, Galway, and formerly of The Farm, Balinrobe

She is survived by her husband Thomas, sons Michael and Brendan, sisters Mary, Jane and Anne, brothers Mike and Bill, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Burial took place at the New Cemetery, Bohermore, Galway, following Requiem Mass in Galway Cathedral.

Burial took place in Bonniconlon Cemetery following Requiem Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Bonniconlon.

 

John Joe Mulligan, Charlestown

 

John Joe Mulligan, Cashel, Charlestown.

Burial took place in the local cemetery following Requiem Mass at St. James' Church, Charlestown.

 

Ellen Philomena (Nelly) Egan, Bonniconlon

 

Ellen Philomena (Nelly) Egan (nee Barry), Templetigan, Bonniconlon, and formerly of Dundalk, Co. Louth.

Burial took place in Bonniconlon Cemetery following Requiem Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Bonniconlon.

 

Nancy Renehan, Ballina

 

Nancy Renehan (nee Carrabine), Connolly Street, Ballina.

Nancy is deeply regretted by her beloved husband Paddy, sisters, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Burial took place in Leigue Cemetery on Friday following Requiem Mass at St. Muredach’s Cathedral.

 

Mary Kummer McGee, Newport

  

Mary (Maura) Kummer McGee, Newport, died in Nathers, Switzerland.

She was daughter of the late Lena and Harry McGee, Newport. The deceased is survived by her cousin Maura Gill, Church Road, Ballina. Burial took place on Thursday in Switzerland.

 

Phyllis Walsh, Castlebar

 

Phyllis Walsh (nee Conroy), Cornanool, Castlebar, and late of Kinvara, Co. Galway. Peacefully at her residence.

She is survived by her husband John, sons Emmett and Edward, daughter-in-law Kimberley, brothers-in-law Christy and Joe, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Burial took place in Islandeady Cemetery on Friday following Requiem Mass for the repose of her soul in St. Patrick's Church, Islandeady.

She is survived by her daughters Rosemary and Jacintha, sons Michael and Joe, sisters Margaret and Noreen, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Martin.

Burial took place in Leigue Cemetery following Requiem Mass at St. Muredach’s Cathedral.

Michael O'Connell, Newtown, Claremorris, and formerly of Coolaght, Kiltimagh, and Gainsborough, England.

Burial took place in St. Colman’s Cemetery, Claremorris, on Wednesday following Requiem Mass at St. Colman's Church, Claremorris.

She is survived by her sisters Nora and Ann (Cappawhite), Teresa and Bridget (England), brothers John and Paul (England), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends. She was predeceased by her husband Martin.

Burial took place in the New Cemetery, Kilmaine, following Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, Kilmaine.

Sarah (Sal) Walsh (née Garry), Carrawina, Partry.

She is deeply regretted by her daughters Deirdre, Martina, sons Sean, Fr. Brendan and Mark, daughters-in-law, Evelyn and Dawny, grandchildren, brother Sean (Ballina), sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim.

Burial took place at Ballyovey Cemetery following Requiem Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Partry.

Celia Jones (née Hughes), Churchtown, Dublin and Claremorris.

In her 101st year, she was wife of the late Arabin and much loved mother of Henry and Bryan. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law Margaret and Elizabeth, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Burial took place in Mount Venus Cemetery following Requiem Mass in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Churchtown.

He was a son of Margaret and the late Ambrose McCormack.

The deceased was a brother of Marian Kennedy (Bushfield), Pauline McCormack, Sandihill and Luton (England), Sean McCormack, Curry, and Geraldine Bourke, Sandihill.

He is also survived by his uncles and aunts, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and grand nephew, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Burial took place in Bunnacrannagh Cemetery following Requiem Mass for the repose of his soul at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Curry.
