Singer Bernard Lawrence is set for his TV debut

Young people set for toy show appearance

BERNARD Lawrence is recognised by many people in Breaffy and the wider Castlebar community for his outstanding singing ability.

And tonight (Friday) the nation will get to enjoy his talents when he performs on the Late Late Toy Show.

Bernard, who is in sixth class at Breaffy National School, has performed on many occasions, including talent shows, Christmas plays and many other school and community events.

He won the final of Scór with his rendition of ‘The Foggy Dew’, receiving a standing ovation. And after his great success, Ms. Doherty, a teacher in Breaffy N.S., entered Bernard for the Late Late Toy Show, sending in a video of him singing ‘The Foggy Dew’.

Winning through to the final auditions, he was quite nervous at the time, but put all of that behind him and performed amazingly. And two weeks later, Bernard’s parents got the call that he is to appear on tonight's live show.

Bernard is one of a number of young Mayo people who will be appearing on the show.

Among the other stars tonight are Sacred Heart School, Westport, students, and sisters, Louise and Rachel Sheridan, third year, who will be performing as part of the traditional music group Atlantic Rhythm.

Look out also for Cora Durkan (7) from Swinford, who will be presenting one of the toy demonstrations, while Michaela Yabo who dances with ECM Dance Group in Swinford will be performing a dance.
