Mayo pays farewell to US ambassador

MAYO is today paying farewell to Kevin F. O'Malley whose term as US Ambassador to Ireland is coming to an end.

Mr. O'Malley, whose paternal grandparents came from Westport, is in Castlebar today and there will be a function in his honour in Westport this evening.

Mr. O'Malley was nominated by President Obama for the position of US Ambassador of Ireland on June 5, 2014, and he attended many events in the Mayo during his time in Ireland.
