Passing of retired Castlebar national school teacher

THE death has occurred of Lucy Walsh, Railway Terrace, Saleen, Castlebar.

A member of an old and respected local family, the deceased was a retired national school teacher.

During her career, she had been attached to the staff of Errew NS and St. Patrick's Boys NS, Castlebar, where she was held in very high regard.

She is survived by her sisters Lily (Sheridan), Castlebar, and Kathleen (Savard), USA, brother-in-law Reggie, USA, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Her father, the late Thomas Walsh, was a member of the printing staff of The Connaught Telegraph before serving with distinction in World War One and he subsequently worked as a psychiatric nurse.

Her remains will be reposing at the residence of her sister Lilly Sheridan, Railway Terrace, Saleen, Castlebar, on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. with removal on Friday morning at 10 o'clock to the Church of The Holy Rosary for Funeral Mass at 11 o'clock.

Burial takes place afterwards in Old Cemetery.
