Passing of former manager of The Connaught Telegraph

THE death has taken place after a short illness of Stephen Connolly, Killard, Turlough, Castlebar, and late of Pontoon Lodge, Pontoon, Foxford, a former manager and director of The Connaught Telegraph.

Aged 46, news of his passing earlier today came as an immense shock to his family, wide circle of friends and former colleagues who held him in such high regard. 

Heartfelt sympathy is extended to his wife Siobhan, father Dr. John, brothers Diarmuid and Pat, sister Niamh and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother, Betty, a number of years ago.

The deceased was a former director of Midwest Radio and served as a member of the Provincial Newspapers Association of Ireland.

He was a member of Castlebar Chamber of Commerce for many years and a minute's silence was observed at a meeting of the organisation this morning as a mark of respect.

Stephen was also closely associated with the annual Mayo People of The Year Awards run by Mayo RehabCare in conjunction with The Connaught Telegraph and Mayo County Council.

An affable and generous personality, he was blessed with a great sense of humour and really enjoyed the company of others. 

His remains will be reposing at the Coady Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Thursday evening from 5 o'clock with removal at 7 o'clock to his residence.

Removal on Friday morning at 10 o’clock to the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem Mass at 11 o’clock with burial afterwards in Turlough Cemetery.
