Funding confirmed for Linenhall Arts Centre

AN Taoiseach, Enda Kenny has confirmed that €42,000 has been granted by government to Linenhall Arts Centre Ltd., Linenhall Street, Castlebar, under the 2017 Arts Capital Programme.

He stated: 'Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humpreys, has infofmed to me that funding is to be granted to the Linehall Arts Centre in 2017

'For over 40 years the Linenhall Centre has offered an important service to the arts community in Castlebar and further afield.

“Through its own programme of exhibitions, theatre and music, by attracting high quality artists and performances to the centre and by encouraging community participation, the Linenhall Centre has fostered a strong culture of the arts in the county.

'Whilst we cannot do all that we would like to given the fragile economic recovery here and ongoing challenges in relation to Brexit, I am happy the government can contribute in a small way to helping the centre continue that strong tradition.”

The grant will be used for structural and repair works, flooring, the purchase of new equipment, an upgrade of their network system and for the installation of new gallery lighting.
