Students' healthy school project into national final

A GROUP of students from St. Louis Community School, Kiltimagh, are through to the All-Ireland final of the ECO UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards in Dublin.

In reaching the final they have done marvellous work trying to make the school a healthier place.

The aim of their project is to make the school a healthier place. In order to do this, they got permission to close the school shop and removed all unhealthy food from the canteen.

They started a healthy poster campaign around school and put up a healthy food board.

Following this they then did a presentation to different classes about the importance of being healthy and organised healthy games around school to make people more engaged with the topic.

Students in St. Louis are now much more informed about how to be healthier, and the school environment promotes a much healthier lifestyle

One of the awards is the people's choice award and is open to the public to vote.
