Refurbishment works approved for Ballyhaunis Community School

THE metalwork and engineering room at Ballyhaunis Community School is to be refurbished.

The announcement follows major refurbishment and additional accommodation works carried out recently at the centre.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny stated: “With significant employers such as Cashel’s Engineering, Major Steel and Grasscare Machinery in the area who rely heavily on Ballyhaunis Community School for skilled apprentices, equipping students with the highest quality education is important not just for the students themselves but for the local economy.

'I am delighted that young people in the school will be aided even further in reaching their potential and given the chance to train and work in their home area should they wish to.

'Ensuring rural communities have the necessary skills to meet the needs of the labour market, to encourage innovation and maximise assets are key objectives in the Action Plan for Rural Development launched by my government last year.'

Officials from the Department of Education will be in contact in the coming days to make arrangements for the refurbishment works to take place.
