Over 350 set to take part in Explore Mayo Cycle

EXPLORE Mayo Cycle 2017 has been launched.

On Saturday next (June 10), up to 350 riders will mount their machines at Breaffy House Resort before departing for the vast reaches of the Mayo countryside.

Three routes - 50km, 100km and 150km – are involved, some strenuous but not overly punishing.

Said Damian Conway of Castlebar Cycling Club, event director: “It's not a time trial, it's entirely a leisure event.

“The whole goal of the event is that everybody will enjoy themselves and savour a barbeque afterwards at Mulroy's of Main Street, Castlebar.”

The Explore Mayo Cycle started out five years ago as a promotion of Castlebar Cycling Club which, with more than 200 members, is now the largest cycling organisation in Mayo.

Late entrants for Saturday's Explore Mayo Cycle can register at www.casttlebarcyclingclub.ie
