Young man dies in fatal road collision

A YOUNG man died early today (Sunday) in a road collision in Co. Mayo.

The victim was a front seat passenger in a car which crashed into a wall at Churchfield, Tourmakeady, around 4 a.m.

The male driver of the vehicle was injured, as was a female passenger who was in the back seat at the time of the impact. Both are being treated for their injuries at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar.

The victim was brought to Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out later.

Traffic diversions were in place at the scene of the impact.

Gardaí at Claremorris - (094) 712222 - are appealing for witnesses.
