Mayo shopper who won €5,000 has yet to claim prize

A MAYO shopper has won €5,000 in a retail outlet's promotion and does not know it!

Michael Guiney's ran a nationwide promotion for the month of May for customers in all its stores.

Any customer spending €20 or more during the month were automatically entered in the draw and given a random transaction number.

The winning number picked from thousands throughout the country was one issued at its Castlebar outlet at Hopkins Road on May 19 at 3.25 p.m. and the transaction number was 957210.

The shopper purchased four chairs, seat pads and a tea towel, which amounted to €17.30, and was entered in the draw after exceeding €20 on the basis of previous purchases.

However, this shopper, understood to be a woman, is unaware that she has a receipt in her handbag, purse or pocket which is now worth €5,000 to her.

As a result, staff at Guiney's have contacted The Connaught Telegraph in an effort to track down the winner.

Said a spokesperson: 'It would be a pity for the winner to miss out on such a significant sum of money. Help us find the winner.'
