Woman in court over alleged Mayo stabbing incident

A MAYO woman has been remanded in custody after she appeared before a special court today charged with the alleged stabbing of a male relative.

Christina McDonagh, 8 St. Muredach's Terrace, Ballina, was remanded in custody to appear at Castlebar District Court on Tuesday next.

Evidence of arrest, charge and caution was given to the court by Garda Peter Kearns.

An application for bail by Mr. Mark Loftus, solicitor, was refused by Judge Durcan following an objection from Garda Supt. Joe Doherty.

Two others were arrested following yesterday's incident. They were taken to Ballina Garda Station for questioning. They were later released.

A file is to be prepared for the DPP.
