Announcement shortly on Christmas ice rink proposal

AN official announcement is scheduled to be made next month on the proposal to set up an ice rink in Castlebar for the 2017 festival season.

Negotiations between Castlebar Chamber of Commerce, Mayo County Council and an ice rink operator are close to reaching a conclusion.

The Connaught Telegraph has also learned that a press conference will be called within the coming weeks in respect of the exciting proposal which is expected to attract large numbers of visitors to the town over the Christmas shopping period.

If the plans goes ahead, which is looking increasingly likely at this stage, then it will be staged at the Mall. 

However, those involved in organising the event are not making any comment at this stage.
