Andy Moran can take player of the year award

MAYO'S amazing run to the All-Ireland final has earned them 12 All-Star nominations and among those is Tom Parsons, a player I feel deserves to win his first All-Star, writes John Melvin.
Mayo also stand a great chance of taking the player of the year award, with Andy Moran among the nominees. Dublin are represented by 13 players on the short-list of 45 nominees.
David Clarke and Stephen Cluxton, for the second year running, go head-to-head for the goalkeeping award.
Mayo have a strong hand with Colm Boyle, Keith Higgins, Chris Barrett, Tom Parsons, Aidan O'Shea, Kevin McLoughlin and Andy Moran likely to feature prominently when the final selection is made.
I expect Mayo to bag six awards and I think Andy Moran will be named the player of the year given the phenomenal year he has had.
The final 15 All-Stars will be announced live on RTÉ TV and will be presented with their coveted awards at a gala black-tie banquet in Dublin’s Convention Centre on Friday, November 3.
Following Dublin and Mayo, other counties represented include Tyrone (six), Kerry (five), Roscommon, Kildare and Down each have two, with Monaghan, Donegal and Armagh completing the high-profile line-up with one nomination each.
The selections were voted on by a committee made up of Gaelic games correspondents and chaired by Uachtarán Chumann Luthchleas Gael, Aogán Ó Fearghail.
