'Horror' at Castlebar budget cut

MEMBERS of Castlebar Municipal District have rejected a proposal to cut their annual budget by 32 per cent.

Councillor Michael Kilcoyne expressed 'horror' at the size of the cut.

He pointed out that last year they had been allocated €590.000 but this year the amount proposed is €390,000.

"I propose that it be rejected out of hand", Councillor Kilcoyne said.

The councillor's proposal was seconded by Blackie Gavin (FF).
