Mayo clash against Galway is rescheduled for Friday night

MAYO manager Stephen Rochford is expected to name the same team which was selected to play Galway in the postponed FBD League clash when his charges face Leitrim at Elverys MacHale Park on Wednesday night.

The postponed Mayo v Galway clash has now been pushed forward to Friday night with a 7.30 p.m. throw-in.

Over 2,500 supporters turned up for the clash between Mayo and the Tribesmen today but referee Paddy Neilan from Roscommon decided at 2.15 p.m - 15 minutes after the scheduled throw-in - that the surface was too dangerous to play on due to the hard frost.

Patrons were told leaving the venue that they could pick up their ticket for the rescheduled game on Friday night but many felt they should have been reimbursed under the circumstances.

Rochford had named a number of new players as well as a few of the more experienced players with All-Star David Clarke named in goal and Kevin Keane from Westport also selected to play at -full-back.

Barry Moran and Alan Freeman were included in the list of substitutes

Jason Gibbons was also selected after a long lay-off with an injury while Neil Douglas was another of last year’s panel who was named on the team.

Steven Duffy (Crossmolina), Jamie Oates (Garrymore), Michael Plunkett (Ballintubber) Sharoizeoir Akram (Ballaghaderreen), Matthew Ruane (Breaffy), Peter Naughton (Knockmore) and Fionn McDonagh (Westport) were among the new players named on the Mayo team.

The Mayo bench also included a list of players likely to get a run over Mayo’s three matches in the FBD League and they include Paddy O’Malley (Westport), Aiden Butler (Claremorris), Marcus Park (Knockmore), James Stretton (Claremorris), Shane McCormack (Claremorris), Jordan Flynn (Crossmolina), Nathan Moran (Hollymount-Carramore), Ross Egan (Aghamore), Oisin McLoughlin (Westport) and Ciaran Treacy (Ballina).
