Westport has new addition to its pub trade sector

A BRAND new bar has opened at The Octagon in Westport.

“An File” (The Poet - named for Mayo’s famed blind poet Antoine Rafteirí) replaces the long established Dunnings Pub.

An File is a new, stylish option for locals and visitor alike and will serve quality bar food daily from noon to 8 p.m..

The premises was recently acquired by well known Galway businessmen, Michael Gilmore and Martin Proulx.

The duo already run two very successful businesses in Galway City, The Cellar Bar and Seven Bridgestreet, and have a wealth of experience in the pub trade.

Believing that a rising tide lifts all boats, they are keen to link up with local businesses to mutual benefit.

“Our aim is to add to the already strong tourism offering in Westport," said Michael Gilmore.
