Former Erris officer is new garda chief in Roscommon/Longford Division

A SENIOR garda officer who played a key role in the RII6 helicopter rescue operation took over today as Chief Superintendent of the Roscommon/Longford Garda Division.

For a number of years, Supt Tony Healy has been in charge of the Belmullet Garda District. He is a native of Co. Cork.

A replacement superintendent for the Belmullet area has yet to be announced.
