Colour the sky at Mayo International Kite Festival

KITE fliers and spectators of all ages will experience a visual feast as the Mayo International Kite Festival returns to Keel Beach, Achill Island, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Sunday (July 22).

Brought to you by Pure Magic and Mayo County Council, this event offers free entertainment all day long and is the perfect way to spend a summer Sunday with family and friends.

With spectacular sights of hundreds of colourful kites, Sunday is sure to be an invigorating event from start to finish. Kite enthusiasts are encouraged to show off their skills and take part in fun and games throughout the day.

Families will love the kite making workshops, and pro kite flier Andrew Beattie will fill the sky with his impressive kites.

Francois Colussi, event organiser, said: “We’re excited to welcome the Mayo International Kite Festival back to Keel beach this Sunday; the atmosphere is always upbeat and everyone is always in great spirits.

Kite flying is an ideal activity on Achill, especially with the windy weather conditions, and is an ideal day out for both young and old.”

Added Andrew Beattie: “I’m delighted to be taking part in this year’s kite festival. Achill Island is a beautiful place and I’m looking forward to so many kite enthusiasts coming out on Sunday.”

Don’t worry if you’ve never flown a kite - or if you can’t remember the last time you did - because there will be plenty of kite flying experts on hand to get you off the ground!

With international kite masters, lively music, exciting games, kite making workshops and buckets of enthusiasm you’re sure to have a great day at the 2018 Mayo International Kite Festival.

Let’s go fly a kite!
