Carnacon fined €500 and players who left Mayo squad suspended for one month

REPORTS are emerging tonight that the Carnacon players who withdrew from the Mayo senior squad during the 2018 championship have been suspended for a month.

The club has also been fined €500 by the Connacht Ladies Council on foot of an appeal submitted by the Mayo Ladies County Board.

The ruling is far removed from the original decision by the Mayo board to remove the club, the defending All-Ireland champions, from the 2018 league and championship competitions.

No further details are available at this stage.

But sources close to the club said an appeal is likely as the loss of eight players for a month is a big disadvantage for Carnacon's title defence.
