Castlebar Mitchels remain on course to retain crown
Castlebar Mitchels are on course to retain the Paddy Moclair Cup for another year.
The defending champions advanced to face Ballintubber in a mouth-watering semi-final of the Mayo SFC after defeating Claremorris in this afternoon's quarterfinal clash at Elverys McHale Park by 1-20 to 2-9.
Castlebar set the foundation for their landslide victory with a powerful first half display in which they restricted Claremorris to a single score, a goal by Conor Diskin, Mitchels themselves registering 1-12.
Claremorris did their best to make a match of it after James Shaughnessy converted a penalty.
But there was simply no stopping a Mitchels side in which Paddy Durcan, Aiden Walsh, Neil Douglas, Conor Stenson, Danny Kirby and Donal Vaughan were outstanding.
