Death of member of popular Castlebar family

The death has occurred unexpectedly at Galway University Hospital of Denis Ludden, 113 Springfield Court, Castlebar.

A member of popular and respected local family, he was a retired member of the staff of the County Clinic in the town. The deceased also worked in the old Hat Factory for a number of years.

Aged 76, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 2004.

He is survived by his brother Bernie (Westport), sister Margaret Fitzgibbons, Islandeady, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Denis was a brother of the late Pat, Peter, Frank, Mike, Tommy, Jack, Bridgie (Guthrie) and Mary (Richardson).

His remains will be reposing Kilcoyne Funeral Home, Thomas Street, this evening (Monday) from 6 p.m. with removal at 7.30 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, arriving at 8 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place on Tuesday at 11 a.m., after which Denis will be laid to rest with his loving wife Mary in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
